Mind Blowing Structures That Stunned The World

We have taken a closer look on interesting and amazing architectural structures in the world that feature not only the ingenuity of the best designers but also the radical masterpiece that made it a piece of geographic landmark.

1. The dancing house also called Fred and Ginger was a product of a Croatian-Czech architect Vlado Milunic and Canadian-American Frank Gehry collaboration. The building in a riverfront plot is based in Prague, Czech Republic completed in 1996.


The non-traditional construction located along where other famous Prague buildings stand was supported by then Czech president, Vaclav Havel to strengthen and promote the cultural activity within the area. The Dancing house was initially derived from the famous dancers Fred Astaire and Ginger Roberts.













2. National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in China is colloquially referred to as The Giant Egg. Although there are other similar structures such as The Egg venue for performing arts in Albany, New York and the St Mary Axe skyscraper in London, this building is unique itself taking the shape of a titanium-glass ellipsoid dome appearing to float in an artificial lake. The opera house located in Beijing was designed by French architect Paul Andreu with an area of 12,000 square meters occupying 5,452 seats. The first inaugural concert was in 2007 after the commencement of construction in 2001.





3. Who wouldn't recognize the elephant building in Bangkok, Thailand? The structure is comprised of seven building parts in the northern side of Bangkok business district. The design was finished in 1997 through the collaboration between two great designers Dr Arun Chaisaree and architect Ong-ard Satrabhandhu which achieved a fine recognition from CNNGo ranking as the 4th in the "20 World Iconic Skyscrapers" in 2011. The building structure which stands 102 meters high resembles literally the elephant name it has taken.




4. Hashtag is coined symbol that got popular when Twitter joined the widespread social media class such as Facebook. It also had become the stellar inspiration for an ambitious skyscraper project in South Korea. The idea was introduced by a group of Danish architects called Bjarke Angels Group (BIG). The Cross hashtag three-dimensional structure consists of two towers connected by three gravity-defying bridges that lie in the underground, in the air and on the street. The 1000-ft structure strategically serves the opening of new Yongsan business district accommodating a community of 600 apartments, gallery and library, while the top floors are lushed with greenery view.





5. The Kansas city library district garage joins our list due to its distinctive structure in the 10th street consisting of 22 book spines 9 meters high creating a facade of community bookshelf. The architectural firm CDFM2 lead the design through the effort of architect Brian Finn in 2003. The local residents joined in completing the idea by being able to choose the representing title on the line of bookshelf.
