With Fortune's top 18 Coolest Offices of the 100 Best Companies, we took our pick and expanded a closer look on the company's initiatives to establish a culture of employee-friendly workplace.
First on our list is Google Canada's Waterloo, Ontario engineering and development team headquarter. The office was opened in mid January of 2016 featuring amenities that rival other established office spaces.
The headquarter became popular for its Blue Library, a common area dashed with a comforting fireplace and an interesting secret room which you could open by pulling a mystery book off the library shelf. Employees also could find another form of relaxation through a mini putt set up on the rooftop of Toronto's office. Besides the generous financial rewards, the company boasts of their strategic communication and culture in the workplace designed and improved through anonymous surveys conducted among its thousand of employees. The consistent efforts made Acuity rank third in 2015 and second in 2016 by Fortune's "100 Best Companies to Work For" and "100 Best Workplaces for Millenials".
The company being known to raise the tallest flag pole in the US made a haven for employees through its stress relieving stations such as rock wall for wall climbing enthusiasts and built in ferris wheel.
Next on our list is Go Daddy, a company involved in internet domain registrar, web hosting and e-business software and services. It was founded by Bob Parsons in 1997 initially launched as Jomax Technologies. The coalescing agents that started the new outpost of about 35,000 square feet in Sunnyvale,California are the talented DES Architects and engineers of Go daddy. The office was industrial themed aimed at imbibing both focus oriented and activity driven space. Every corner is accented by colorful furnishings, adjustable desks, manageable seating pods and portable bars. Interiors are holistically designed to establish a perfect venue for teamwork and task, from cafes, lounges and game area to focus rooms and huddle stations. Go Daddy workspace also features a lively theme area with its free flowing space interconnected by race track corridors where you could move about using push-pedal go-karts.
The fourth on the list is Park Hyland Jr's Hyland Software. The company developed the product Onbase that gains value in document integration, business process automation and records management used in a wide range of industries as financial institutions, healthcare, government, insurance and manufacturing. It rose to rank 48 in 2016 for the "100 Best Companies To Work For" in its commitment to keep the best employees. The energized office interiors located in Ohio, extends to other parts of the globe such as Asia, Europe and Latin America. The headquarters are complete with amenities such as massage spa, hair salon, car detailing shops, sports and playground complex that can accommodate even a spacious volleyball court. The company also supports working parents with its onsite day care and state licensed Child Enrichment center.
The last on our pick is Quicken Loans, formerly called Rock Financial founded in 1985. Headquartered in the financial district of downtown Detroit, Quicken Loans became a leader in online retail lending services employing 13,000 people nationally. The company owns a multipurpose arena and 9 building properties innovated with different vibrance. In one of their buildings, walls and floors are decorated with graffiti by local artists. To revitalize the work atmosphere, razor scooters could be seen around while kitchens are stacked with popcorn and slushy machines. There are also team driven courts that allow employees to engage in sports such ping pong and basketball. The company brought focus to its team through architectural murals and custom built furnishings. In one of its key locations, you would see a repurposed vault transformed into a meeting room.
